Perseverance ist wohl vermutlich das am meisten erwartetste Album 2002, und here we go! Nach 5 Jahren endlich ein neues Studioalbum DER Moshband schlechthin. Es war keine leichte Aufgabe den Klassiker Satisfaction... zu übertreffen, und um ehrlich zu sein haben sie es auch nicht geschafft. Natürlich kommt es in die Nähe und man merkt ganz deutlich das Hatebreed sich weiterentwickelt haben und das dass endlose touren sie um einiges nach vorne gebracht hat. 14 neue Songs, eine neue Aufnahme von Smash Your Enemies und das Outro schmettern Jamie Jasta und Kollegen durch den Raum und es könnte einen einfach umwuchten wenn man I Will Be Heard oder Perseverance aufdreht. Wer denkt das Hatebreed sich vom massenkompatiblen NuMetal hinreissen lassen haben und ihre platte kommerziell orientiert haben dem wird ganz klar der Mittelfinger ins Gesicht gestreckt. Hatebreed sind nach wie vor genaus kompakt und mitreissend, voller Mosh und Beatdown Parts; oder mit einem Wort: einfach das Original!!!! An Proven kann man ganz klar erkennen mit wem sie besonder viel getourt sind (... Slayer!!!), und bei Final Prayer durfte Kerry King dann sogar auch an die Klampfe und ein Solo einspielen! Der schwächste Song der CD ist Bloodsoaked Memories der sich etwas hinzieht mit seinem düsteren mid-tempo Stil. Alles in allem sind einfach zu wenige Knaller, wie sie auf dem Vorgänger zu hören waren, auf der CD - aber die Fangemeinde wird mit Sicherheit nicht weniger werden. Ganz im Gegenteil werden Hatebreed durch Perseverance viele neue Freunde aus dem Metal Sektor dazu gewinnen. Let the Blood Spill....

Five years on and its hard to see how Hatebreed could possibly better THAT debut. Contractual difficulties delayed the release of this follow up, but it has definitely been well worth the wait. The first thing that you notice is the infinitely better production job on display here, a more thicker sound than before. The next and most important are the songs. Ah! The songs! Kicking off to a brutal start with Proven You want to see me fail, you wont get your chance! helps to put an end to any concerns that Hatebreed may have softened since moving to a major label such as Universal. It also helps put rest to any fears that the boys may have been corrupted by the likes of Slipknot et al with whom they have been touring and therefore sold out. I will be heard with its huge Biohazard type chorus is destined to be a future classic. But the best song on this release without doubt has to be A call for blood, which thunders along with death metal type intensity and Jamey roaring out I fucking hate you, every bone in my body will break! Perseverance without doubt has more of a death metal influence to it than previous releases, but this shouldnt put you off what is an excellent hardcore album.
