Zunächst einmal mein Senf zum Zusammenhang von Albumtitel und Paketinhalt: "Metal = Life" ist eine umfangreiche 2 CD + DVD Compilation aus dem Hause Sub City, die wahrlich nicht den besten Titel gewählt hat. Zum einen haben Acts wie STRETCH ARMSTRONG, MADBALL und CHIODOS trotz meiner ganzen Sympathien mal gar nichts mit Metal zu tun und zum anderen entspricht das restliche, dargebotene Line-Up eher der aktuell angesagten Matalcore/Mosh Elite und daher eher den moderneren Metal/Hardcore Strömungen.
Nun, da ich das losgeworden bin, kann ich mich umso ausgiebiger über das ansprechende Paket freuen, welches sowohl visuell als auch vom Inhalt her nur wenig Wünsche offen lässt. Sowohl gestandene Heroen wie AS I LAY DYING, DIECAST, HEAVEN SHALL BURN oder auch MOST PRECIOUS BLOOD finden sich unter den 33 Songs wieder als auch die aufstrebenden Wilden, allen voran HORSE THE BAND, CHIODOS und FEAR BEFORE THE MARCH OF FLAMES. Der Hördurchgang versüßt schön aggressiv den morgendlichen Weg zu Arbeit und räumt mal nebenher den Schnee von der vor einem liegenden Straße. Extra Punkte gäbe es nur noch für unreleaste Tracks, doch bei der hier vertretenen Auswahl wird nicht Jedermann jede Combo kennen. Ebenfalls in dem Package befindet sich eine DVD mit 18 Musikvideos von den bereits akustisch vertretenen Band.
Hinzukommt, dass wie bei jedem Sub City Release, 5% des Umsatzes einer Non Profit Organisation zu Gute kommen. In diesem Fall der Hot Topic Foundation, die die Kreativität der Jugend fördert. Wenn das mal kein nettes Weihnachtsgeschenk ist, bei der man ebenfalls sein soziales Gewissen ein wenig beruhigen kann...
